A Country Farm
This painting can be dated to c. 1934-9 by the Winsor & Newton ‘UNICOTE’ 13 stamp on the reverse of the canvas. Although it has previously been titled ‘Garsington’, it is unlikely to be a Garsington subject since Spencer stayed in the Oxfordshire village from c. 1923-6 and his landscapes were almost always painted on the spot.
