Hook End Farm, Upper Basildon

Reproduced on the Christmas card of the Women’s Institute, Berkshire for 1954, photographed by Paul Laib. Hook End Farm was close to Spencer’s home in Upper Basildon, Berkshire, and featured in several other works, including Soldiers Relaxing, Hook End Farm (c. 1940, Reading Museum) and Summer Evening, Hook End Farm (1957, Bristol Museum and Art Gallery).
