The Old Scotch Cart (alt. titles: The Farmyard, Garsington, Oxfordshire; The Farm; Farm at Garsington)

This painting had latterly become known as The Farmyard, Garsington, but through its provenance can be identified as The Old Scotch Cart, first exhibited at the Goupil Gallery in 1926 with several other Garsington paintings. Spencer had spent his childhood making models of farm carts and wagons, and was highly knowledgeable about regional variations in construction.
