Bourne End Allotments (alt. title Allotments)
This early landscape, with its lowering sky and rows of winter cabbages, shows Spencer’s developing interest in agriculture and the working landscape. Bourne End is across the Thames from Spencer’s home village of Cookham, to which he had recently returned after his war service.
