Burden's Farm with Melbury Beacon (alt. title Twyford, November)


This view of Melbury Beacon from Spencer's garden at Burden's Farmhouse, Twyford, Dorset was purchased from the artist's exhibition at the Leicester Galleries in 1943. Under its present title, it does not appear in the catalogue, and may have been originally titled Twyford, November (22). In Spencer's annotated catalogue of his 1964 retrospective at Reading Museum, he noted this painting as 'V good indeed'.
