Lingmoor Fell is in Ambleside, where Spencer was evacuated with the Royal College of Art during the Second World War. This untraced painting presumably depicts a hunting scene, perhaps with some of the humour Spencer displays in his Home Guard watercolours (c. 1941-2, private collection).
