Spencer visited Stourpaine in Dorset over several summers in the early 1920s. This painting may have originally been titled Havelin's Farm (c. 1924, untraced), exh. Goupil Salon 1924 (193) or Stourpaine (c. 1924, untraced), exh. Goupil Gallery Summer Exhibition 1924 (17).
