Meadow Landscape (alt. title: Woods in Autumn)

This landscape shares many similarities with Group of Trees, Basildon (c. 1936-9), in terms of support, dimensions, signature and palette. The latter painting was exhibited at Spencer's 1939 exhibition at the Leicester Galleries, and it is likely that this painting was also shown, possibly as no. 25, Woods in Autumn.
