
Portrait of Mrs Michael Hoare (Patricia Hoare)
Michael and Patricia Hoare lived close to Spencer in Upper Basildon, Berkshire. Michael was a book publisher, and helped Spencer to edit drafts of his posthumous biography of his brother Stanley, published in 1961. Gilbert painted this portrait of Michael's wife Patricia as a thank you for his help.
