Still Life on a Window Sill
Spencer painted few still lifes, and their dates are uncertain. This may be his still life exhibited at the Goupil Gallery Salon 1934 (no. 85). The bright palette and blocks of colour suggest the influence of the Bloomsbury group, particularly the early still lifes of Vanessa Bell.
