The Thames at Bisham


Bisham, a small village on the River Thames, is a few miles upstream from Spencer’s home village of Cookham. Its parish church sits prominently at the water’s edge. According to The Times' review of the Goupil Gallery exhibition (6 January 1923), some of the green in this untraced painting is 'poisonous'.
