Upper Basildon from the Coolings (alt. title: Upper Basildon from the Old Pump House)
The image is from a photograph in the Gilbert Spencer archive. It was priced at £420, according to an inscription on the reverse of the photograph, but remained unsold at the time of his departure from Upper Basildon in 1970. Spencer planned to present it to the village as a gift at his anticipated farewell party, but as the event never transpired, he missed the opportunity, and instead took the painting with him to his new home in Suffolk.
