A second, almost identical portrait is on the reverse, with a lengthy inscription. This portrait of Anthony Bradshaw, nephew of Spencer's wife Ursula, is one of a series of pencil portraits of pupils of S. Anselm's school in Bakewell, Derbyshire, drawn by Spencer in the 1950s.
