Portrait of Lt. Peter Spencer Coppock, R.N.V.R.

Peter Spencer Coppock was Gilbert Spencer's son. Coppock wrote, 'In August 1945 I returned home and had a long leave and some of it was spent with Gilbert and Ursula at Tree Cottage.  After two and a half years on active service  I became a Lieutenant at twenty-two years of age, I have a fine drawing of myself in Naval uniform'. It was exhibited at the Leicester Galleries in 1949 along with a pencil portrait by Spencer of Coppock's new wife, Denise Wilson, who served in the W.R.N.S.
