
Melbury from Burden's Farm (alt. title: Burden's Farm, Dorset)
Known only from a photograph in the Gilbert Spencer archive, this painting can be located by the distant view of Melbury Beacon, almost identical to Melbury Beacon (c. 1932-4, Southampton City Art Gallery). It may be Burden's Farm, Dorset, Spencer's first exhibit at the Royal Academy in 1935 (345), or Melbury from Burden’s Farm, exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1938 (601). The dimensions of this large painting are noted on the reverse of the photograph.
