Portrait of Julian Morrell

Portrait of Julian Morrell

Julian was the daughter of Lady Ottoline Morrell, who lived at Garsington Manor, Oxfordshire, and later in the 1920s would become a friend and important patron of Gilbert. The Garsington Visitors Book (British Library) shows Gilbert and Stanley Spencer visited the Manor the weekend of 24-27th September 1920. Julian Morrell subsequently recalled that the two artists sat down together to draw her.
