The Cottage Garden

The Cottage Garden

This is a characteristic Gilbert Spencer landscape composition, with the barbed wire fence cutting across the foreground, and its focus on the rough vegetation at the rear at the property, rather than the more manicured front. It was priced at £52.10 in 1929, at the upper end of the price range for Spencer's landscapes at the time.
