This painting was praised in the Reading Mercury on 1 May 1954 as 'an oil notable for the fresh atmosphere of the particularly well-painted open sky and for delicate colour harmony'. It may be the painting now titled Berkshire Landscape (c. 1940-59, Art Gallery of South Australia). Westridge is four miles from Spencer's home in Upper Basildon.
