Wetherlam from behind the Bield

Wetherlam, a peak in the Lake District, is close to Little Langdale, which Spencer painted on many occasions during his time in Ambleside with the Royal College of Art. The Bield was the home of sculptor Josefina de Vasconcellos, whom Spencer befriended during his stay.
